Fabulous Deep Purple Amethyst and Silver Retro Brooch, Stunning!!
Wow! The first word and best description that comes to mind regarding this brooch is "WOW!" The sterling silver design is a stunning and rather simple example of Retro jewelry. In fact, to my eye, there's also a hint of Art Deco in the design which makes it that much more interesting! Therefore I'd consider it a transitional piece bridging the gap between 1930s Deco and 1940s Retro. The absolutely gorgeous amethysts are a shockingly beautiful shade of purple. As rich and saturated as I can imagine, the color is simply stunning. From certain angles you can even see the natural variations in the pigment of each stone. The stones are large and deep and are held securely in place with six discreet silver prongs. Altogether the stones total approximately 15 carats. The pin mechanism functions perfectly and measures 1-1/8" from the hinge to the clasp. The dimensions of the brooch overall are approximately 1-1/2" at the widest point (straight across from the outside of the largest oval cut to the outside of the largest round cut) and 1-1/8" high from the single silver "leaf" to the outside of the longest silver "leaf" opposite. This piece could easily be converted to either a pendant or a cocktail ring. If that possibility appeals to you please just let me know! I'd be more than happy to offer my opinion and/or assistance in making it happen. This is certainly the most breathtaking piece of amethyst jewelry I've ever had. It's truly stunning in design and color and it's bound to make its new owner squeal with delight!
