Faceted Steel Flapper Evening Bag, Circa 1920, Immaculate and Opulent!
This is one of the most fabulous flapper purses I’ve encountered. It is in absolutely mint condition, the crimson red still bright and the miles of faceted steel beads still taught and shiny. The interior is pristine as well with the red georgette lining still attached with tight little stitches and a decorative trim. The simple sterling frame measures 4-1/2” across and opens 3-1/2” wide. The kiss lock closure is secure and the two halves of the frame line up nicely when closed. If holding the center point of the chain the measurement straight down to the center point of the frame is 6-1/8”. If the chain were laid flat it would measure 12-3/4”. The purse itself is 7-3/4” long from where the fabric meets the frame to the bottom of the fringe. This immaculate little bag is truly special. The color is so rich and the swags of steel beads give it a feeling of opulence. An amazing collector’s piece but also quite functional. And as you may be wondering, a smaller (3” x 5-3/4” with case) iPhone will fit!
