Rare 1930s Hobé Necklace, Pink and Blue Crystals with Festoon Design
Simply finding a 1930s Hobé necklace is rare, but even more exciting is how elaborate and well-kept this one is! The pink and blue open back crystals are crisp and sparkle brightly. The design is stunning as it incorporates two ornate panels on either side of the large center pendant with cascading festoons in between. The jeweled clasp and the chubby tassel are the finishing touches that make this piece a better than average example. As is often the case, the necklace is unsigned yet all the telltale signs that it is a Hobé piece are present. (The open back stones, the sawtooth bezels, the florets and wire work to name a few.) The necklace length is 16” from end to end with the pendant drop measuring 3-1/4” long including the tassel. The pendant width is 2-1/4” at the widest point while the two side panels measure 1-1/8” across. A truly stunning and rare example of early costume jewelry made by one of the best design houses! Both wearable and collectible!
