Arts and Crafts Era Handmade Sterling and Pearl Necklace
A striking blend of styles this early 20th century necklace is undoubtedly Arts and Crafts with a dash of Deco. Each of the hammered sterling links was hand cut and crafted with four simplified prongs that fold up and over a uniquely shaped baroque pearl. The pearls are best described as a crisp white with a very faint pinkish undertone. Alternating with the whimsically irregular hammered links are little structured floral ones that offer an early glimpse into the Art Deco appeal of symmetry and geometry. There is no maker’s mark present yet there is a small “sterling” stamp on the back of one link. This is such a special necklace with a strong artistic quality. A hundred years old and as stylish as ever! The length end to end is 19-1/2” with a pendant drop of 1-1/4”. If a shorter length is preferred just let me know and I’ll be more that happy to make the needed adjustments.
