Large Art Nouveau 18k and Diamond Lavaliere, Natural Pearl Drop, Necklace or Brooch
What a spectacular piece of Art Nouveau jewelry! Traditionally, Art Nouveau-era lavalieres, albeit pretty, are often rather demure. This one on the other hand is anything but that! Measuring an impressive two inches across this example stands out not only for its size but for its elaborate design and unbelievable patina. Over many decades the 18k gold has taken on a stunning, rich hue that gives the whole piece an ethereal, painterly quality. The soft contours and subtle textures are highlighted and shaded like a beautiful drawing. Designed like a backdrop for the gold leaves and flowers is a scalloped sterling silver framework studded with glittery rose cut diamonds. At the very top and center of the piece are two wonderful old mine cut diamonds while at the very bottom hangs a beautiful natural pearl drop. And in addition to the two discreet bales on the back you’ll find a pin mechanism that allows you the option of wearing it as a brooch. So versatile and so lovely! The pin portion measures just shy of 2” from the hinge to the clasp. The length of the pendant from the top diamond to the bottom of the pearl is 2-1/2”. The largest of the two old mine cut diamonds is approximately .40ct while the smaller weighs approximately .15ct. The gold chain pictured is not included in the price but I will be happy to help in selecting an appropriate chain that suits your requirements. Just let me know!
