These Victorian era cameos were beautifully hand carved out of Italian lava. The carvings are an elegant depiction of a left and right facing woman with classically styled upswept hair and bare shoulders. Her face is pretty with delicate features and her only accessory is a cluster of feather-like plumes that adorn her head. The carvings are set into sterling silver with solid backs, a narrow twisted rope border and simple wire hooks for pierced ears. Stamped “sterling” on the back of each they measure 1” long by 3/4” wide. They are carved in high relief measuring 6.5mm to the highest point. Relatively lightweight for their size you’ll find they are very comfortable to wear for any length of time.
