Undeniably, the Edwardian era produced some of the most intricate, and finely crafted jewelry. And this lavaliere is certainly no exception! The pendant, 14k gold with a heavy layer of platinum on top, is an exceptional example of how the skilled jewelers of that period enjoyed experimenting with the strength of platinum. The density of the metal renders it difficult to work with yet when tackled by a master the result can be awe-inspiring! In this case the jeweler was able to carve out a series of very fine, perfectly parallel and gently curved lines. The geometry of the design creates a visual tension which instantly draws you in, making it difficult not to stare at its beauty! The surface of the platinum layer was meticulously hand carved with the tiniest millegrain and floral details. Positioned near the bottom and nestled within a small flower blossom is an absolutely brilliant .12ct Transitional cut diamond. The decorative bale reflects the design of the pendant and succeeds in really completing the look.  The overall length, including the bale, is 1-5/8". The width near the bottom, at the widest point, is 11/16". I've paired the lavaliere with an 18" 14k white gold chain which is an affordable and suitable match. However, I'm happy to sell the pendant alone if you already have a chain in mind. Just let me know!
