Circa 1900 Art Nouveau Amethyst and Diamond Lavaliere
This lovely necklace comes from the brief yet extraordinary Art Nouveau period, circa 1900. It is solid 10k yellow gold but has the color and richness you'd expect from 18k. The design is striking in its bold symmetrical lines offset by the asymmetrical lengths of the dark purple amethyst briolettes. Hanging centrally between the two amethysts is a wonderful, natural baroque pearl. Set prominently above the whole piece is a glittering +/- .10ct old mine cut diamond! The chain is gold as well and features two little pearls which relate nicely with the other pearls throughout the necklace. The overall length, from end to end, is 17". The pendant measures 1-3/4" in length from the diamond to the lowest hanging amethyst. At the widest point the pendant measures 15/16" or nearly 1". This is truly a beautiful piece of fine jewelry. So beautifully made and of heirloom quality.
