Cushion Cut Aquamarine in Gorgeous 1930s 18k Gold
I can’t decide what’s prettier: this ethereal cushion cut aquamarine or the hand carved 18k gold mounting it’s set in! Either way, they are both beautiful! The ring dates to around 1930 and has details that are worthy of taking a closer look at. Every groove and pierced opening was cut by hand, a testament to the jeweler’s skill and artistry. The octagonal frame surrounding the aquamarine has a lovely etched pattern and gently beveled sides that drop down to a gallery of pierced scrolls. The tapered shoulders have an open flower-like design that terminates in a shallow groove that runs the length of the shank. A wonderful natural patina enhances the details throughout and manages to create a warm, almost calming effect. The frame around the stone measures 11mm by 9.5mm with the stone itself measuring 8mm by 6mm. At the start of the shoulders the width is 6mm which tapers down to 1mm at the base. The table of the aquamarine sits approximately 6mm above your finger. The stone is in excellent condition with only a few very minor abrasions to the uppermost facet. Otherwise all facets are clean and crisp allowing the stone to show off its color and depth with a surprising amount of sparkle! Currently a size 4-1/4 and sizable upon request.
